but it is not. If you miss the speed, feature-richness and offline access of a desktop email client, there is a solution that gets you the best of both worlds: IMAP access.
AIM Mail IMAP access lets you see all the folders and message you see on the web in the same manner as in your desktop email program. If you read a message in the email client, it will be marked read on the web and vice versa. Everything works seamlessly and stays in sync without effort. Now here's how to set up all this beauty.
To access your AIM Mail account in your email program, use one of the following email programs/clients:
- Outlook Express
- Outlook
- Mac OS X Mail
- Evolution
- Mozilla Thunderbird and
- Eudora
Lets say your e-mail address is dummyblahblahblah@aim.com and the password is '123abc'
Create a new account with the following settings:
- Incoming mail server: imap.aim.com
- IMAP login: your AIM Mail login name, dummyblahblahblah
- IMAP password: your AIM password, 123abc
- IMAP port: 143
- Make sure SSL is not enabled for the newly created AIM Mail account in your email client
- Set up outgoing mail via SMTP
Set up Outgoing AIM Mail (SMTP) in Any Email Client
- Server Name: smtp.aim.com
- Make sure authentication is enabled for outgoing mail
- IMAP password: your AIM password, 123abc
- IMAP port: 25 or 587
- User Name: dummyblahblahblah
